Many years ago I wrote about some squirrels in my yard. Yesterday I took a moment to watch them again and ponder their behaviors.
My guess is these are a new crop of squirrels, but their behaviors seem about the same as those squirrels I saw so many years ago. They still run from tree to tree, rarely coming down to earth. They still chatter at me if I wander into their territory. They chatter at, Ron, my feral cat friend. The especially do not appreciate Ron. They also chatter at each other if one invades another’s pine-cone hoard. (We have piles of pine-cones in our yard…enough for squirrels to eat for several winters…maybe decades!)
The squirrels are busy, busy, busy. And they are interesting to watch. I wonder, amidst all their running about if they ever ponder their lives.
Sometimes I note they are watching me. And I cannot help but wonder what they are thinking.
I wonder if they think I am overly busy…going back and forth doing my yard chores. I wonder if they are puzzled about why I leave everyday…coming back each evening. Do they wonder if I ponder about my life?
I wonder, do you ponder about your life? About your spiritual life?
I invite you to do just that. Begin by asking yourself about your relationship with God. Where do you find God? Where does God find you? How does God speak with you? How do you speak with God?
We have relationships with God individually and corporately. We share are spiritual gifts as we further relationships in and out of the worship environment.
Importantly, we do not squirrel around when it comes to matters of faith. We continually try to grow in faith. I suspect others are watching us as well. What do you suppose they are thinking?
